Program Summary: VTNM 9 — "Hope Around The Globe: Spreading Belief"

Vong Tay Nuoc My (VTNM) is the annual event of the Association of Vietnamese Youth and Students in the United States. This year, the 9th edition took place in Dallas, Texas from December 17–19, 2021.

Building on the success of previous editions, this year's event continued to inspire and strengthen the bonds of the Vietnamese Youth and Student community, creating a platform with meaningful values to encourage and build success for the young Vietnamese generation in the United States. In 2021, in the context of a new normal, Vong Tay Nuoc My returned with bold new energy, spreading positive values toward the Vietnamese homeland and its people.

Under the theme "Hope Around The Globe: Spreading Belief," VTNM 9 brought to the Vietnamese youth and student community across the United States a rich program of offerings including a Career Conference, the Journey to America competition, sports tournaments, a charity art auction, and many other side activities.

The activities within VTNM 9 were not only an opportunity for young Vietnamese across the US to showcase their abilities and knowledge, but also a chance to network, learn, and receive guidance from professionals in their fields.

The success and meaning of the program would not have been possible without the contributions and support of organizations and individuals from both Vietnam and the United States. The organizing committee sincerely thanks the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnamese diplomatic missions in the United States for their continued accompaniment and support. The committee also extends heartfelt thanks to the two diamond sponsors: SSI Securities Corporation and VinFast US. Additional partners include the Vietnamese Business Association in America, Zadez Vietnam, Stone Lotus, and Voriole Group.

Main Activities of VTNM 9

December 17, 2021: Welcome Party

The welcome party served as the opening event for VTNM 9, welcoming over 60 guests, youth, and students to Dallas, TX. With Dallas's mild winter weather, attendees enjoyed fun moments together with outdoor games and activities, taking home gifts as a warm welcome to the city known as home to the cowboy culture of the Wild West. The evening was also an opportunity to meet new friends, build connections, and prepare to journey together through the rest of the program.

December 18, 2021: E-Sport and Sporting Events

The VENUSA Cup 2021 soccer tournament was an exciting competition featuring 8 teams from states across the US. The championship was claimed by the Chicago team. Alongside this, the Zadez Valorant Tournament esports competition delivered thrilling and dramatic matchups.

December 18, 2021: Career Conference

Prior to the in-person event on December 18, VTNM 9 hosted a series of online sessions attracting over 200 participants across 3 panels (Business, Academia, and Technology). Additionally, mock interviews created opportunities for 40 mentor-mentee pairs to exchange and practice job interview skills, an increase of 25% compared to previous years.

At the in-person event, Vietnamese professionals in the US shared their experiences on career development strategies and job-seeking skills, particularly in the post-COVID-19 new normal. Through this, Vietnamese students and professionals in the US were able to find solutions to navigate through this challenging period.

December 19, 2021: Gala Night

To close out the VTNM 9 series of events, the Gala Night was held in a vibrant and exciting atmosphere. The highlight of the program was a charity art auction to raise funds for orphaned children affected by COVID-19, in collaboration with the organization Chung Tay Vi Viet Nam (Together for Vietnam). The Gala concluded with many positive lasting impressions and deepened the bonds among young Vietnamese in the United States.
