Board Member

Minh Uong, PhD, PE, is a highly accomplished Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Burns & McDonnell, an American multinational engineering firm. With over 15 years of comprehensive experience, Dr. Uong has established himself as an expert in the design and analysis of complex foundation systems for infrastructure. His technical proficiency spans a wide range of geotechnical solutions, including drilled shafts, helical piles, rock anchors, and retaining walls for diverse projects in transmission lines and substations, water management systems, renewable energy systems, military facilities, airports, commercial facilities, manufacturing facilities, chemical facilities, petroleum refineries, and power plants.


Dr. Uong is a registered Professional Engineer in multiple states. He is proficient in advanced computational and finite-element software, enabling him to perform sophisticated design, analysis, and reliability-based assessments for complex foundation challenges. His expertise is built on a strong academic foundation, including a Bachelor of Science from Hanoi Architectural University (HAU), a Master of Science from Polytechnic University of Milan (POLIMI), and a Ph.D. in civil & environmental engineering from the University of Missouri (MIZZOU).


Beyond his technical role, Dr. Uong is a recognized leader committed to fostering scientific cooperation and professional development. He is the Co-founder and Board of Directors of the Association of Vietnamese Professionals and Students in the United States (VPS). He also co-founded and holds leadership positions with LOTUSnet, a U.S.-Vietnam initiative for scientific collaboration & human resource development, and with the Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Network in the United States (VENUSA).
